Aaron Taylor- Johnson; Godzilla 2014 feels like an Independent Movie

Here's a report from Digital Spy, quoting star Aaron Taylor- Johnson as saying working on the big-budget Legendary Pictures Godzilla 2014 film feels like working on an independent film.
The Kick-Ass actor is playing the lead, Lieutenant Ford opposite girlfriend Elizabeth Olsen and stepfather Bryan Cranston.

To quote the article:

Taylor-Johnson told Total Film: "The Godzilla crew is such a small group of people that it feels more like an independent movie than anything I've ever worked on."

The actor revealed that he has not filmed much in front of a green screen for the big action film.

He said: "I've hardly done any green screen stuff for it, he's (Edwards) really clever at doing the special effects.

"We'll shoot everything raw on location, on the streets, and he's going to put it all around us."

We shouldn't be too surprised by Aaron's comments. Godzilla 2014 Director, British born Gareth Edwards, who is still relatively unknown in Hollywood, got his big break with the surprise hit "Monsters" about the aftermath of Alien invaders.

The film was shot on a shoestring budget on locations throughout Central and South America with a crew of seven, including two actors. Everyone else you see in the film were people they just met along the way.

"Monsters" was an independent film with a big movie look. Edwards has a reputation for focusing on a good story and knows how to effectively(and sparingly) use special effects. And apparently behind the scenes, he makes a big-budget movie feel like an independent film for the cast and crew. Is Edwards going to be the next George Lucas? Time will tell. We can expect a Godzilla trailer very soon. Godzilla stomps into theaters May 16, 2014.
