It was revealed this week that Legendary Pictures will indeed be giving a presentation on Godzilla 2014(And most likely a trailer) at next week's San Diego Comic-Con which runs from Wednesday July 17 through Sunday, July 2.
Also there was a statement on the Comic-Con site that revealed a few details about the Godzilla plot. It confirms that Godzilla will face multiple monster opponents. Actually this was something that producer Brian Rodgers hinted at 2 years ago, but this is the first confirmation. The statement reads as follows:
Legendary Pictures: Godzilla -- An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Gareth Edwards directs Godzilla, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are the executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira. The film is from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.
"malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance"..., sounds like the other monsters are not extraterrestrials and probably created by humans. Godzilla will be busy if at first he's a dark force of nature and then humanity's savior, but this dichotomy has long been a part of the monsters' character.
Godzilla roars into theaters May 16, 2014.
