This is a still shot of the Godzilla in profile from the Godzilla Encounter event at SDCC 2013. The design is similar, but slightly different than the "bearzilla" concept sculpture also on display at the Encounter. It reminds me of a "dragon-like" sculpture that surfaced a few years ago and may have evolved from that. It's also reminiscent of the Millennium Godzilla design, especially Tokyo S.O.S. with a tapering neck and small, triangular head. Finally, the profile reminds me of the basilisk monster from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, though the snout is not so narrow.
When we see Godzilla's face close-up in the window, it reminds me of the 1985 design. This is a great look for Godzilla that is traditional and makes fans happy, but will also appeal to modern audiences that don't know Godzilla as well.
I have 2 videos of the Encounter Godzilla posted you can view, there's the Godzilla Encounter Footage video and the Slow-Motion version. Please watch and leave your comments below or in the forum.
